I have a special fondness for historic, small towns. Walking past the old houses and store fronts, I like to think about the people who once lived and worked there. I try to imagine how they dressed and interacted with each other. It�s like going backwards in time--if for just a brief moment. I am fascinated at how easily the past fits in with the present, both co-existing and contributing to a mutual benefit. I am also amused by the irony that today�s present is tomorrow�s past.

Frankfort, IL�Founded in 1855--is best known for its 1890�s charm. Featured in the foreground of this pencil drawing is The Old Plank Trail Tavern. Its namesake comes from being located adjacent to The Old Plank Road Trail. Once an old right-of-way of the Penn. Central Railroad, it is now a 20-mile walking and biking trail between Chicago Heights and Joliet.

Doug Kreuger, Landscape Artist Member of Oil Painters of America Doug was born in, Aberdeen, South Dakota, and grew up in Hazel Crest, Illinois. From early childhood, Doug demonstrated a strong interest in drawing, painting, and building things. Upon graduating from high school, Doug became a student at The American Academy of Art, Chicago, where he studied commercial graphics, life drawing and watercolors.
